Performances 2010

Sept 4, 2010, THE TRIPLE DOOR, SEATTLE WA - FIVE STAR RATING*****

The Triple Door Main Stage, AN EVENING WITH JESSICA WILLIAMS - Sept 4, 2010, a Saturday evening. 2 shows at 8 and 10 - celebrating her two latest releases for Origin Arts, TOUCH, and The Art of the Piano. The Triple Door, 216 Union Street, Seattle, WA 98101. $25. Call 206 838 4333 for reservations

This concert will be the public premiere of not just new music, but a milestone in the way her music is spontaneously developed, played, presented, and heard. Complete with a fascinating running commentary by the sometimes overly-verbose and always idiosyncratic artist.

John Sunier, Audiophile wrote this about The Art of the Piano: "A fine environment - psychologically and acoustically - allows Williams to make one of her finest recordings ever. Five stars! The Art of the Piano might seem excessively self-promotional with most other jazz pianists on the scene today, but not so with Jessica Williams. She’s one of the nation’s musical treasures and one of the most distinctively original jazz pianists to be heard anywhere. This is her third CD for Origin, recorded live at the Triple Door in Seattle just this past April.  In the notes she speaks of her audience being among the best she’s experienced... "never loud, raucous or challenging." The fine environment - The Triple Door in Seattle - allows Williams to make one of her finest recordings yet." ...more reviews here...

Her new CD, TOUCH, on Origin Arts, will also be available, as well as many other titles by Jessica, and she'll be happy to sign and personalize them for you. The Triple Door, 216 Union Street, Seattle, WA 98101. Call 206 838 4333 for reservations

Sept 17, 2010, YAKIMA WA

Yakima, WA, Sept 17, 2010, a Friday at 7.30pm: The Seasons Performance Hall Jessica Williams, solo piano- two shows - Jessica premieres her new compositions, plus musical salutations to The Pianists: Art Tatum, Bill Evans, Thelonious Monk, Fats Waller, Hank Jones, Erroll Garner, Herbie Hancock, Oscar Peterson, McCoy Tyner, and more.

Lots of improvising, sheer beauty, and loads of fun, as Jessica interprets styles and brings her own distinct sound to each piece. There's no style that Jessica won't tackle, and there's nothing "safe" about her playing. Over the years, her music has grown to cover more and more territory, from the sounds of an Indian Sitar to the Flamenco guitar, from Second-line New Orleans jazz to the post-modernist inventions of John Coltrane, from the Compas of South America to the Bach-like improvisations based on old show tunes... even old show tunes based on Bach inventions. There's humor, sadness, joy, harmony, and love in all of it.

Your host will be owner Pat Strosahl, and there's always a surprise or two when Jessica Williams comes to town, particularly this time! Don't miss Jessica's special concert, her first in several years at this acoustically astounding and architecturally impressive converted church. Yakima's favorite musical venue, The Seasons Performance Hall, 101 N. Naches Avenue, Yakima, WA 98901 - Tickets, call 509 453 1888 or 888-723-7660, email, or visit their web site

Maureen Girard is a highly gifted pianist and composer whose first album, A Portrait in Four Colors, is being released this summer. It will be on sale at this Whidbey Island concert. Listen to a track here, the beautiful piece Infancia played by Maureen on piano, Clipper Anderson on bass, Brian Kirk on drums, and Thomas Marriott on trumpet. The fine piano that Maureen is playing in the photo used to belong to Jessica! It now resides at Sound Trap Studio and Jessica has purchased a new instrument more suitable to her playing style.

Jessica Williams is honored to be the Special Guest at this most important event. She has great respect and admiration for all of the fine artists involved. This will be a very exciting evening!

Jessica's new album, Touch, is presently in production, and is on sale here, and everywhere in the world and on the web by late July. Notes from Jessica

"For information about how to bring me to your city or town, you don't need to be a seasoned music promoter. It may even be preferable if you're not! Some of my finest, most artistically successful musical experiences come from playing private concerts in people's homes and private venues. Also, I'm available much more easily now for similar dates in the UK and the entire EU, as well as in the US and Canada."
