Ten Things

Currents + larger fonts | - smaller fonts

Ten of the most valuable things you have:

The first most valuable thing you have is your self. Without a deep sense of self, you will never love yourself or another well.

The second most valuable thing you have is your word. Without the power and reliability of your word, you're like a shadow. Seen in the sun, but gone when the darkness comes.

The third most valuable thing you have is your freedom. There can be no happiness without freedom, and no freedom without will, determination, and sacrifice.

The fourth most valuable thing you have is your will to enhance your life and the lives of others. In this, as in most things, all that you can do is your best, and you will live well if you do just that. Your best. No more, no less.

The fifth most valuable thing you have is your health. Without it, everything hurts, everything falls. A single step becomes an impossible journey.

The sixth most valuable thing you have is your empathy for all life. To hurt or destroy another human being is a crime of huge proportion. It never goes unpunished.

The seventh most valuable thing you have is your compassion for all life. Your gentle hand can cure a million diseases, and your angry hand can kill a million human beings. Such is the power of being human, and such is the importance of compassion.

The eighth most valuable thing you have is your mind. Your work, your ideas, and your accomplishments belong to you alone, and are all the products of your mind.

The ninth most valuable thing you have is your gift. All of us were born with a special gift. Everyone has one and no gift is insignificant. No gift is without value.

The tenth most valuable thing you have is your faith. Belief in a better world, a more beautiful painting, a more emotional piece of music: to create anything, one must have an inexhaustible reservoir of faith.

Faith in the Power of Love is a Supreme faith.
