If only...

Most of us could accept that we are all one

We could see that boxes are our way of using our fear to keep us isolated and alone, by making other people fit into them so that we can feel safe for a minute.

We could undestand that the universe teems with life and that we are part of a vast and unbelievably beauteous cosmic dance, with stars being born and galaxies colliding and sentience growing from mud to miracle, like a spectacular symphony, the forge of creation, all unfolding like a great passion play in the eternal and infinite sea of life.

We could stop and see the beauty in our neighbors' eyes.

We could hear the singing in the silence, and not have to numb our brains with angry, loud, vicious "music" that hurts our souls.

We could free our minds so that we could see the love and unity of every living human being on this planet with us.

If only...

All of us could accept who we are and who everyone else is.

We could see the pain and feel the heartache of our brothers and sisters so we would treat them like family (which they are) and not with arrogance and distaste, malice and distrust.

We could leave this stupid and dangerous game behind and start fresh.

We could, actually.

We just have to decide to do it.

It seems so easy.

If only.

Quote of the day:

"...if Christ hadn't delivered the Sermon on the Mount, with its message of mercy and pity, I wouldn't want to be a human being. I'd just as soon be a rattlesnake."

- Kurt Vonnegut Jr
